Gem alchemy rework: Star Prism in one step, no triple quartz
✍️ Alice・愛麗沙
Fusion now has one target: the Star Prism. Taiwan’s patch notes (3541097) merge gem promotion and cross-type fusion into one “Gem Alchemy” screen, delete the triple quartz and dark-light stone recipes, and leave four routes that all end in a Star Prism; the one that matters is three different Rough S single-colour gems + obsidian S + diamond S → Rough Star Prism S — five in, one out, no intermediate gems. The price: Elite-or-higher gems that are not Star Prisms can no longer enter alchemy at all — press “Convert” under the gem card to get Rough or Rough S gems plus gold back. Promotion to Elite and above unlocks only after “obtaining 6 Star Prisms of Rough S or above”; existing characters are credited by what they hold. Any server that receives this rework gets the same table.
Why: the operator said it itself
One sentence: “the rules were reworked to reduce the complexity of making Star Prisms.”
The pre-rework path: three different single-colour gems fused into triple quartz, diamond plus obsidian into dark-light stone, then those two fused into a Star Prism — three fusions, two intermediates, five gems. The new rule removes the two intermediates: five gems in, one out. The screens merged too: promotion used to be one page and cross-type fusion another; now it is one page with four tabs — All / single-colour / multi-colour / special.
Four recipes, only one of them “from scratch”
| Result: Star Prism | Rough | Rough S |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kinds of single-colour coloured gem + obsidian + diamond | not allowed | allowed |
| 3 kinds of single-colour coloured gem + dark-light stone | allowed | allowed |
| triple quartz + obsidian + diamond | allowed | allowed |
| triple quartz + dark-light stone | allowed | allowed |
Look at the first row. It is the only recipe that needs neither triple quartz nor dark-light stone, and it only makes the S version: three different Rough S coloured gems (pick three of ruby, topaz, sapphire, amethyst, emerald) + obsidian S + diamond S → Rough Star Prism S.
The other three rows all use triple quartz or dark-light stone — which still drop (both remain in the multi-colour category) but can no longer be fused. So the triple quartz and dark-light stones in your bag are not dead; they became “material only, no longer producible” stock. The tutorial quest “Adventurer’s Readiness (1)” changed with it: it now hands you one triple quartz plus one dark-light stone (for a Rough), or five Rough S single-colour gems (for a Rough S).
Which gems still enter alchemy: one table
| This gem | Can be promoted | Can be fusion material |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced (Broken, Broken S) single-colour | yes | no |
| Rough single-colour | yes | yes (with a Rough dark-light stone or triple quartz) |
| Rough S single-colour | no | yes (only for Rough Star Prism S) |
| Rough dark-light stone / triple quartz (incl. S) | no | yes |
| Star Prism, every stage | yes | — |
| Elite and above, single-colour | no | no → item conversion |
| Elite and above, dark-light stone / triple quartz | no | no → item conversion |
| Chrysoberyl, green chrysoberyl (special) | as before | as before |
Two things to remember: Rough S single-colour gems can no longer be promoted; their only use is the first-row recipe. Elite-or-higher non-prism gems can do nothing; the official exit is “item conversion” — the “Convert” button under the gem card, or “Convert” in the bag’s detailed sorting to do many at once — returning Rough or Rough S gems plus “an appropriate amount of gold”. The gold figure is not in the notes.
The arithmetic: a Rough S prism before and after
Before: one Rough Star Prism S needed three Rough Star Prisms (each = one triple quartz fusion + one dark-light stone fusion + one prism fusion, 5 Rough gems and 3 steps), then a three-into-one promotion — 15 Rough gems, 10 steps.
After: 5 Rough S single-colour gems, 1 step. Where do Rough S single-colour gems come from? Three Broken S promote into one — so unrolled it is 15 Broken S, 6 steps (5 promotions + 1 fusion).
Rough gems became Broken S, and the step count fell from 10 to 6. That is the real size of “reduced complexity”: four fewer steps, and no more managing two intermediate stocks. The numbers did not move — a Rough Star Prism S is still a Rough Star Prism S, and the stage table stands.
Promotion above Elite must be unlocked first
“From Elite-rarity Star Prisms onward, the gem-promotion recipe unlocks after obtaining 6 Star Prisms of a set stage or above.”
The first gate: Rough Star Prism S → Star Prism (Elite), condition: having obtained 6 prisms of Rough S or above. Existing characters are credited retroactively: holding 6 or more Rough S, or 1 or more Star Prism, or 1 or more Star Prism S, or 1 or more Complete Star Prism — any one of these unlocks it; otherwise it is credited from what you hold between Rough S and Complete.
In practice the gate stops one kind of player only: someone just starting gems who does not yet hold 6 Rough S prisms. And that player should be filling the 22 slots by the staircase rule before promoting anyway — 6 is a number you pass naturally on the way.
Auto-fill and “Fuse All”: Star Prism only
The new screen has a “material auto-fill” toggle that fills materials with any combination that yields a Star Prism, and a “Fuse All” that does them all at once. Both conveniences are offered only when the result is a Star Prism, and special gems such as chrysoberyl and red tourmaline are excluded — stated explicitly as a guard against mis-fusing. Fuse All shows an explanation pop-up first and fuses only prism results.
So “accidentally fused my special gem” is blocked at the interface. Chrysoberyl is in the package-point shop until 11/25 and runs its own fusion line; it is outside this article.
One thing people mix up
“All my Elite rubies are worthless now” — not worthless, converted. Conversion returns Rough or Rough S gems plus gold; Rough S is exactly what the first-row recipe wants. So an Elite ruby put through Convert comes back as Rough S rubies that go straight into “three single-colour S + obsidian S + diamond S”. What you lose is the lower gems eaten during promotion; how much comes back is not in the notes, and the in-game conversion screen shows it.
Second: “triple quartz is gone” — no, it is still in the multi-colour category, still drops, still works as material; it just cannot be made any more.
What to do now
- Open Gem Alchemy, switch to “multi-colour” and count your Rough S prisms — 6 or more means Elite promotion is already unlocked.
- Elite-or-higher single-colour gems, dark-light stones and triple quartz in the bag: detailed sorting → Convert, all at once.
- Keep Rough triple quartz and dark-light stones as material; do not convert them.
- Assembling a Rough S prism from now on: three Broken S into one Rough S → five different kinds fused in one step.
- Anyone with the 22 slots unfilled fills them first; promotion is for the surplus.
What would overturn this: the recipe and material tables come from patch notes 3541097, and the in-game screen wins if its combinations differ; the gold returned by conversion and the Rough / Rough S ratio are not in the notes and follow the conversion screen; if “Rough S single-colour cannot be promoted” still works in-game, that row of the third section changes.
