Two shelves: “History” collects real service records and incident reporting; “Lore” collects research tracing in-game names back to their mythological originals. Each article keeps its original category — this is just another way to browse the same writing.

The concerts that stopped, and the archives that locked their doors: 22 years of player music

North American PC Mabinogi's scheduled NPC concerts quietly stopped working on 2023-08-18 and never came back — no announcement, no compensation. That is one chapter of a 22-year story that also includes Korea's bard board in 2004, two score archives locking down on the same day in 2016, and Japan's contests where winners received an actual CD.

The odds got published because players forced them — and the fine everyone cites was for a different game

In 2021 Korean PC Mabinogi players crowdfunded trucks and parked them outside Nexon; six weeks later the company published Reforge probabilities it had said were impossible to disclose. The regulator's 11.6 billion won fine in 2024 names MapleStory and Bubble Fighter — not Mabinogi. The correction matters, because the true story is better.

What downtime is actually worth: the compensation ledger, and the three deadlines that eat it

Taiwan mobile has paid for every outage since launch, in visible tiers — base packet, extended-maintenance packet, apology packet. But one compensation mail carries three different deadlines, and missing any of them means you were paid nothing. Korea's worst overrun ran 96 hours and the reporting records no payout at all.

When later content arrives early: three leaks in five weeks on Taiwan mobile

Runes on 7/27, a guild ship on 8/5, an alloy ingot on 8/26 — three times in five weeks, the Taiwan mobile service opened a door to content that belonged to a later version. Each time Nexon closed it the same way, and each time nobody was punished. Korea's version of the same accident ended with 365-day account restrictions.

7.7 billion gold from a number that would not fit: 22 years of duplication, and why the fix is never a rollback

In January 2025 a bulk-purchase price overflowed a 32-bit integer on Korean PC Mabinogi and 7.7 billion gold appeared out of nothing. Nexon recovered 93.3%, sanctioned 26 accounts, and refused to roll back — the same answer North American players got on Alexina in 2018. The full dated record, including two famous dupes that never happened.
