Taiwan vs Korea: the server timeline, and what a global launch would inherit
✍️ Alice・愛麗沙
⚠️ Every date below is Nexon-official, from KR or TW notices, read from the operator’s own pages (KR ones via archive captures, since Nexon KR geo-redirects foreign IPs). Where we infer, we say “inference”. No Western/global service has an announced date as far as this site tracks — the last section is pattern-reading, not news.
The anchor dates
| Event | KR | TW | Days after that server’s launch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service launch | 2025-03-27 | 2026-07-22 | 0 |
| First season (“Myth of Light — Paladin”, KR’s own “first season” label) | 2025-09-25 | not announced | KR: day 182 |
| Season 2 («Light and Darkness») | 2026-06-25 | not announced | KR: day 455 |
The raw launch gap is 482 days. But the content gap is what a player feels, and it is measurably smaller: matching what’s live on TW today against KR’s own history places TW around KR’s early-May-2025 state — an observed gap of roughly 460–480 days and shrinking. Taiwan has never announced a content-season boundary of its own, so anything about “TW’s Season 1” is inference; only the KR half of that table carries official season labels.
The compression evidence: late servers run faster
Three places where TW’s calendar is visibly tighter than the KR original:
| Cycle | KR original | TW rerun | Compression |
|---|---|---|---|
| First adventurer-pass season | 42 days | 2026-07-22 → 08-19: 28 days (TW official) | ~33% shorter |
| First legendary fashion generation | 84 days on sale | 49 days (TW official window, ends 2026-09-09 05:59) | ~42% shorter |
| Lightning Mage (live on KR well before TW launched) | — | announced for TW’s 2026-09-09 update | arriving mid-catch-up rather than at content parity |
And one place where TW got the later, kinder ruleset from day one: pity systems. KR added several of its guarantee mechanics over the first seasons (the legendary-rune pity arrived with S2, retroactively); TW launched with pity structures already in place — the reroll pressure that shaped KR’s launch discourse largely never applied to TW.
What the gap is actually good for
Running ~15 months behind a documented server is an information subsidy, if you label eras honestly:
- Tier lists expire with patches. TW’s current abyss (Mars-era) rewards AoE; KR’s current abyss (Runda, S2) rewards single-target break burst — the two rankings are inverted. A KR “current best” list is TW advice from the wrong era, and this is the single most-repeated mistake in translated guides.
- Season handovers are rehearsed. KR has rolled seasons twice, and the record of what survived is public: levels and enhancement kept; abyss instances terminated with a final-week settlement (no clear, no payout); old-currency shops deleted before the currency; unactivated premium pass tickets destroyed. TW players — and any future server’s players — get the checklist before their first handover instead of after.
- Economic traps are pre-sprung. KR’s legendary-fashion generation rule (a new generation every ~3 months, previous one unobtainable after rollover, the +3% final-damage line explicitly not backported) played out in full before TW’s first window even closed.
What a global launch would inherit (inference, labelled as such)
Nothing is announced; here is the pattern a Western server would step into if it follows KR → TW precedent:
- A compressed calendar. TW’s 28-day pass season and 49-day fashion window say later servers sprint. Expect deadlines tighter than any KR guide describes.
- The mature ruleset, not the launch one. TW got pity early and got KR’s post-revision barter ratios from day one. A later server likely starts even further up the quality-of-life curve.
- A known content order with unknown dates. Season 1 (Paladin) at KR day 182, Season 2 at day 455 — the sequence is fixed history; the pacing, per the TW evidence, is whatever the operator decides that region needs.
- Instantly wrong imported guides. The Mars/Runda inversion will happen to every new region: the loudest available advice will describe the source server’s current era, not the new server’s. Era labels aren’t pedantry; they’re the difference between advice and anti-advice.
That last point is this site’s whole method — every figure we publish carries its server and era. When a Western service gets a date, this timeline gains a third column; until then, the honest entry for it is the one we wrote at the top: not announced.
