Accessory transcendence: +9.27% damage, zero combat power
✍️ Alice・愛麗沙
Mabinogi Mobile has not launched in English, so nobody reading this can transcend anything today. What follows is what the system does on the Korean server, and what it will ask of you when it reaches yours. The short version: accessory transcendence pays out in final damage — the outermost link in the damage chain, the one bucket almost nothing else lives in. A necklace and two rings all pushed to stage 2 is 1.03³ = +9.27% final damage, and your combat power number does not move at all, because the combat-power formula has no final-damage term in it. The rule worth memorising ahead of time is not a number, though: dismantling refunds the rune and the transcendence materials in full, and re-engraving a rune of the same star tier and rarity keeps the transcendence. Transcendence is not spending. It is a deposit. Only the gold is genuinely burned.
Note, 9/14: the Chinese source of this article gained a dated block describing the state after Taiwan’s 9/9 update (update log 3541097). Nothing this English edition states is contradicted by that update, so the body is left as it stands.
Which bucket it lands in decides what it is worth
The outermost link in the damage chain is final damage increase. Accessory transcendence goes there, and so does any other final-damage% affix.
“Outermost” is not a layout word. It is a position in the arithmetic, and that bucket has almost no other tenants — so a percentage put there is not diluted. Contrast that with the attack% bucket, which is crowded with gear, skills, enchants and artefacts all summing together before a single multiplication.
One comparison makes the gap obvious. Take a character who has already stacked attack% to +80% — a bucket total of 1.80, which is ordinary once you have been through a gear cycle. Now hand that character 9.27 percentage points, two ways:
- Into attack%: 1.80 → 1.8927, total damage ×1.0515, or +5.15%.
- Into final damage: ×1.0927, or +9.27%.
Same number, 1.8× the value depending on where it lands. How crowded a bucket is is the exchange rate for an affix, and accessory transcendence is the cleanest example of that rule anywhere in the game.
The two stages, their numbers, and their price
Transcendence engraving comes in two stages, and the accessory branch reads:
Stage 1 — +1.5% final damage per piece, multiplied separately. All three pieces (necklace plus two rings) = 1.015³ = +4.57%. Cost per piece: 200,000 gold + 3 transcendence materials.
Stage 2 — +3% final damage per piece, which replaces the 1.5% rather than stacking with it. All three = 1.03³ = 1.092727 = +9.27%. Cost per piece: 500,000 gold + 8 transcendence materials.
Taking all three pieces to stage 2 is 1,500,000 gold and 24 materials, on top of already owning three 8-star legendary runes — the Korean season 1 gate, raised to 10-star legendary in season 2.
Read the word “replaces” carefully, because it changes the ordering advice. Stage 2 does not multiply onto stage 1; it swaps that piece’s multiplier out for 1.03. So stopping halfway is genuinely half a purchase, and if your materials run short, two pieces at stage 2 beats three pieces at stage 1: 1.03² = +6.09% against 1.015³ = +4.57%.
The combat power number will not move, and that is correct
The Korean stats entry states the formula plainly:
combat power = attack + defence/2 + HP/4 + 0.3 × (sum of secondary stats)
There is no final-damage term in that expression.
So you spend 1,500,000 gold and 24 materials, your combat power sits exactly where it was, and your damage is 9.27% higher. That single fact stops a lot of players from investing, and it is worth naming the misreading behind it: combat power is a display value and a gate check, not an output metric.
One line to carry: dungeon entry requirements read your combat power; purchasing decisions should read the damage chain.
The rule that matters most: this is a deposit, not a cost
The recovery clause has three branches, and every one of them is in the player’s favour:
- Dismantle — the rune itself and the transcendence materials are refunded in full.
- Re-engrave a rune of the same star tier and same rarity — the transcendence state is kept.
- Move to a different star tier or rarity — transcendence is released and the materials come back, gold excluded.
Put the strengthening tracks side by side by what a failure costs, and it is obvious where transcendence stands.
| Enhancement system | Steps Taiwan can push | Steps recorded in Korea | Of those, steps that roll a die | What failure costs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Engraving enhancement | 20 | 20 | 16 | You only lose gold and materials |
| Skill enhancement | 30 | 30 | 0 | Nothing |
| Rune promotion | 24 | 53 | 23 | Materials are destroyed |
| Equipment level | 1 | 17 | 0 | Nothing |
| Transcendent engraving | Not open yet | 11 | — | — |
This table is generated from the site database at build time.Upgrades
In other words, on this line gold is the only thing that actually burns. That is unlike almost every other upgrade line in this game: engraving enhancement and rune promotion are the tracks that move one way only, and those are the ones that need a stop-loss.
Transcendence does not need a stop-loss. It needs one question answered: is this the rune you intend to keep? Branch 3 is what makes that question real — if you plan to raise a rune’s star tier, raise it first and transcend afterwards, or you pay the gold twice.
Three things that get conflated
Transcendence is not promotion. Promotion fuses three same-slot, same-tier runes into one higher tier, can fail, and destroys materials when it does. Transcendence is a 100% success, no-randomness operation.
Transcendence is not enhancement. Engraving enhancement pushes points and attack power — the first bucket. Transcendence pushes final damage — the outermost one. They do not compete for resources, do not share a bucket, and can run in parallel.
Accessory transcendence is not weapon, armour or emblem transcendence. One system name, four slot types, four completely different rewards. Only accessories pay out in clean final damage%. Weapon and armour transcendence amplify that rune’s unique effect value instead, and stage 2 emblem transcendence amplifies the awakening effect — which the Korean write-ups rank first priority, because that amplification is far larger than the final-damage line. Four different things wearing one name.
What to take from this before you can use it
Two things are worth knowing now rather than on launch week. First, transcendence is bound to the rune, and changing star tier releases it — so the rune you decide to main is also the vessel you will eventually transcend, and that decision comes long before the gold does. Second, the gold is the only irreversible part, so the entry ticket to this line is star tier, not savings; hoarding gold years ahead of a system you cannot use is the wrong preparation.
One thing would overturn this page. The +1.5% / +3% figures, and the claim that they multiply separately, come from a long-maintained community rune entry, not from a published formula — Nexon has never published any combat formula. If the in-game text at launch prints different values, or treats the bonus as adding to other damage sources rather than multiplying, every exchange-rate comparison above has to be recomputed.
