Weapon enchant today: 120 proofs at the Cat Captain's shop
✍️ Alice・愛麗沙
120 proofs = six weeks at the cap, and it competes with the rune box. The morning’s “no weapon scrolls on Taiwan” was half overturned by the patch notes: the Cat Captain’s Shop (貓船長的商店) added the Enchant Scroll Selection Box: Glas Ghaibhleann (附魔卷軸選擇箱:格里斯貝恩) at 120 Proof of Expedition (遠征的證明) — Korea’s box of the same name also costs 120, and holds a choice of the five season-0 weapon scrolls (Attack +1%, 35% chance on hit to apply a damage-over-time). Proofs come in at 20 a week at most, and 25 a week already go to catalysts, so 120 is not “six weeks”; it is six weeks without catalysts and without the rune box. Order: rune box (70) first, scroll box (120) after — unless you are certain this weapon lasts into season 1.
The morning was half wrong
Half a sentence.
The scroll catalogue and the enchant day-one article both said this morning: “weapon scrolls are locked in Glas Ghaibhleann Very Hard, Taiwan has not opened it, and no shop sells a box.” The first half still holds; the second stopped holding at 11:30. The patch notes’ NPC-shop section:
| Shop | Item | Currency | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cat Captain’s Shop | Enchant Scroll Selection Box: Glas Ghaibhleann ×1 | Proof of Expedition: Glas Ghaibhleann team dungeon | 120 |
| Molly’s Relic Exchange (茉莉的遺物交換所) | Enchant Scroll: Fox (★6) ×1 | Crimson Abyss Fossil (赤紅深淵的化石) | 400 |
What is in the box, the notes do not list. Korea’s proof shop has a box of the same name and price (120), and it is the weapon scroll selection — season 0’s five: Flame, Frost, Bleed, Unconscious, Poison; base effect Attack +1% on all, the only difference being which damage-over-time the 35% on-hit chance applies (12-second cooldown; coefficient unpublished). This article assumes that; if the box screen shows anything other than those five, the whole piece is void.
What 120 is: six weeks, if you buy nothing else
Proof of Expedition income: Hard clears pay at most 20 a week. 120 ÷ 20 = 6 weeks.
But that shop already has a weekly shopping list: Epic Alchemy Reburn Catalyst 10, Enhancement Reburn Catalyst 15 for 3 — 25 a week, more than the 20 that come in. Which means on the recommended purchase plan your proofs run at −5 a week, and 120 is never reached. To save for the scroll box, catalysts have to stop:
| You buy each week | Proofs left | Time to 120 |
|---|---|---|
| all catalysts (25) | −5 | never |
| epic catalyst only (10) | 10 | 12 weeks |
| nothing | 20 | 6 weeks |
So the true price of “a 120-proof weapon scroll box” is six to twelve weeks of catalysts.
Against the rune box: 70 vs 120, and runes first
The same shop’s armour rune selection box costs 70 proofs. Its verdict: 16 of 18 classes’ endgame armour waits on the same paired set rune — a “guaranteed, every class needs it” item.
The scroll box pays Attack +1% plus a 35%-chance damage-over-time. Attack +% multiplies the weapon segment (the emblem attack bucket), not the panel; the DoT coefficient is unknown. And an enchant travels with this weapon — change weapons and it is gone (performance improvement keeps the target’s enchant and destroys the material’s; disassembly refunds no scroll). Bangor opened a new gear tier today (the catalogue’s Attack 1940–2232 tier), so the weapon you hold now is most likely not your season-1 weapon.
Line the three up: rune box 70 (armour runes travel with you) → catalysts 25 a week (enhancement progress) → scroll box 120 (travels with this weapon). The scroll box is last not because it is bad but because it is the only one of the three that “resets to zero on a weapon change”.
Who should save for the box today
One kind of player only: someone whose weapon is already this version’s top tier and will certainly last into season 1. That player has opened the rune box, has enhancement progress at its stopping point, has no other outlet for proofs, and six weeks for a free +1% costs nothing.
Everyone else leaves the proofs alone. Whether Proof of Expedition gains a second source when the White Succubus opens on 9/21 (its proof being the same currency or a different one) depends on the notice before 9/21.
One thing people mix up
“A scroll from the box goes on any weapon” — a scroll binds to the gear it is applied to; applied to the wrong weapon, it cannot be removed. And the five share one base effect; they differ only in the DoT type, and which type helps your class depends on whether your skills carry the matching tag (the tag article). Save six weeks, choose when you open, never before.
Second: Eavan’s shop also takes Proof of Expedition from today. What it sells, the notes do not list — look before committing proofs; do not assume the Cat Captain is the only outlet.
What to do now
- Open the Cat Captain’s Shop and confirm the box is there at 120; check what Eavan’s shop sells for proofs.
- Rune box not yet opened: keep saving toward 70.
- Weapon settled, rune box done: stop catalysts, six weeks to 120.
- Read the tag article before opening to pick the DoT type, then apply to a weapon you will not change.
What would overturn this: the box contents are inferred from Korea’s same-name, same-price box — if the box screen is not a weapon-scroll selection, the article is void; the 20-a-week cap is the Hard-clear figure, and a new source after 9/14 or 9/21 changes “six weeks”; Eavan’s proof goods are not listed, and if they are worth more, the order is redrawn.
