Week of 9/30: Maple in Taiwan, a one-line Korean patch, Japan on 10/7

Taiwan's 9/30 update makes Monday 10/5 a week where one wrong raid clear costs the weapon scroll. Korea's 10/1 patch: two events, one class. Japan: names and servers are picked 10/5.

Quick answer

Three servers, three very different weeks. Taiwan had its biggest maintenance since 9/9 this morning: a MapleStory collaboration (four events, 9/30 to 10/21 05:59) and, more importantly, Glas Ghaibhleann Very Hard and Abyss Hell 5, both opening Monday 10/5 at 06:00 — the same minute as the weekly reset. The one thing to get right: Very Hard shares its weekly loot with Normal and Hard, so if your first Glas clear of that week is on an easier difficulty, you have spent the week’s Very Hard loot, weapon scroll included. Korea’s 10/1 patch is thin — a pop-up-store event, a side game, and a buff to one class (Longbowman); the Very Hard level bug Korean players flagged on 9/28 is not in it. Japan launches on Wednesday 10/7; pre-registration passed 300,000, and on 10/1 Nexon set pre-download and character pre-creation for Monday 10/5 at 14:00 — the start hour is still unannounced.

Taiwan: 9/30 maintenance (06:00–10:00)

Monday 10/5 is the week that matters

Two doors open at 10/5 (Mon) 06:00: the Very Hard difficulty of the Glas Ghaibhleann team dungeon, and Hell 5 in the Abyss. Monday 06:00 is also the weekly loot reset, so the first Very Hard week starts clean for everyone.

Very Hard is unlocked by talking to Eavan while you are on a specific quest step, can be run solo, and gives the whole party six revives. Its clear loot, per the official log: one weapon enchant scroll (one of five), 30 Proof of Expedition, 300,000 gold, 500 rune fragments, four ★3–★6 runes, and nine abyss mystic dice at elite or epic grade (three each for weapon, armour and accessory), plus a chance at the Roaring Soul raid outfit.

The trap is one line of the notice: clear loot is counted once per character per week across all three difficulties. A Hard clear on Monday morning “to warm up” uses the week, and Very Hard pays nothing until the next Monday. Entering is unlimited; only the loot is capped.

Why it is worth one week of patience, in proofs alone. The Weapon Enchant Scroll Selection Box goes on sale in the Glas Ghaibhleann shop at the Cat Captain’s store from the same 10/5 06:00, at 120 proofs, no purchase limit (the 9/9 notes had already printed that date; the 9/30 log confirms it).

Weekly Glas clearProofs a weekWeeks to one boxWeapon scrolls in 12 weeks
Hard2062 (boxes only)
Very Hard30415 (12 direct + 3 boxes)

The five weapon scrolls (Flame, Frost, Bleed, Unconscious, Poison) each carry Attack +1% and a 35% on-hit damage-over-time with a 12-second cooldown, plus zero to two extra effects at equal odds from the same pool as the White Rose and Fox scrolls. If you cannot clear Very Hard yet, Hard is still the right weekly clear — just do not let it be the first clear in a week you could have done Very Hard.

The rest of the patch, briefly

MapleStory, 9/30 to 10/21 05:59

Pink Bean, Mushroom babies, Green Slimes and two MapleStory warriors arrive in Tir Chonaill. There are four events, and completing all four on the same server also enters that server once into a draw for a trip to Korea (one winner):

EventWhat unlocks the listed rewardPer day over 21 days
Erinn’s Golden Carriagelog in on 10 days → Mushroom baby hatone login every other day
Maple Campfire Story600 seconds of instrument play → Pink Bean transformation doll29 seconds
Maple Harvest Cycle96 daily challenges → warrior transformation doll4.6 challenges (membership dailies count)
Green Slime Dungeon7 clears of Green Slime Dash → warrior transformation dolla third of a run

Only the Harvest Cycle has a real pace: 96 challenges in 21 days is 4.6 a day, and a player who starts a week late needs 6.9. Start that one today. The shop side is two lucky boxes, five collab bundles and two tickets. If you want the Pink Bean outfit for its colours, wait: it becomes dyeable at the 10/7 maintenance.

Korea: 10/1 patch (06:00–11:30)

Korean players have already named it a “non-update”. The note is short:

What it means outside Korea: nothing to prepare for. What Korea’s calendar says comes next — the October–November roadmap items — is tracked on How far ahead is Korea. Korea’s 10/1 compensation is the same five items, in the same amounts, as Taiwan’s 9/30 compensation.

Japan: launch on Wednesday 10/7

Japan’s server opens on 2026-10-07 (Wed), announced at Tokyo Game Show on 9/17. Up to 9/30 the week’s only new official facts came on Nexon Japan’s X account: pre-registration passed 300,000 on the evening of 9/30, so all six milestone rewards are locked in — 40 fashion tickets, a dye ampoule selection box ×3 and a swordsman school uniform set, delivered “at service start”. The launch has 18 classes — the original six lines — not the 21 Korea and Taiwan run today.

Update 10/2: on 10/1 Nexon Japan announced pre-download from Monday 10/5 at about 14:00 JST, with character pre-creation from then until Tuesday 10/6 at 20:00 — a 30-hour window. There are three servers — Tir Chonaill, Dugald Aisle and Dunbarton — and one character per server, three at most. Names are first come, first served across all three servers, and characters on different servers cannot share a guild, so agree on a server with friends before 14:00 on Monday, then take your name. Pre-registration rewards arrive in-game after the 10/7 start; no code needed.

Still not announced as of 10/2 evening: the start hour, launch events and launch-day packages. One thing to ignore: the App Store’s data lists the release as 07:00 UTC (16:00 in Japan), which is simply midnight US Pacific time — Apple’s default for a pre-order date, not a start hour. For comparison, Taiwan announced its 00:00 start at least six days ahead and opened pre-download two days before launch, together with character pre-creation (server and name chosen then).

If you are a global player choosing a server, Japan is the only fresh start of the three: everyone begins on the same day, with no Korean or Taiwanese season behind it.
