Hole to the Abyss: three maps, 15 minutes, no daily count

✍️ Alice・愛麗沙

KR S1 preview KR Season 1 content — live in Korea since 2025-09-25, not yet on the Taiwan server.
Quick answer

Check first that you have cleared Abyss Entry once; otherwise the hole opens and you cannot enter. It differs from the red and blue holes you know in three ways: it does not consume the daily exploration count, it is fixed at a single level-65 difficulty, and it appears only on Goddess’s Garden, Ice Gorge and Cloud Wasteland, open for 15 minutes. It spawns over an existing hole’s position, so when you see a hole countdown, look at the type. The title The One Who Lit the Deep Underground (照亮幽深地底之人) is easier on Taiwan than in Korea: on every spawn, the first character or party to clear on each hunting ground completes the achievement and gets the title — not one per server, one per map per hole, with the name posted in world chat. The patch notes also add that it announces itself 1 hour ahead on that hunting ground’s town map, and that entries are unlimited.

Why Taiwan had never seen it

The short answer: version.

Taiwan already had two of Korea’s three Abyss maps, yet the hole never appeared — the block was the version, not the maps.

The Taiwan notice lists “the black hole to the Abyss” among today’s additions. In Korea it arrived on 2025-06-19 with Flash of the Wilderness, the same day as Cloud Wasteland and the Lightning Mage — the day Taiwan waited 447 days for. For a server with no launch date yet, the useful part is the rule set — now printed by Taiwan’s own patch notes — and the one thing Korea’s first week got wrong: many players saved their daily exploration count for it, not knowing the count is separate.

Three ways it differs from red and blue holes

Normal hole rules live in the official hunting-ground guide: 1 daily exploration, 7 weekly overflow, reset Monday 06:00. The Abyss hole is its own set:

Normal hole (underground / deep)Hole to the Abyss
Mapseverywhere except Wolf Forestthree only: Goddess’s Garden, Ice Gorge, Cloud Wasteland
Difficultyfollows the hunting ground’sfixed level 65, no tiers
Open windowrotates every 30 minutes15 minutes
Countdaily 1 + weekly overflow 7unlimited (patch notes: entries unlimited, counted separately from existing holes)
Entry gatelevel 35one Abyss Entry clear
Party1–4up to 4

The most useful line is “unlimited”. It does not eat your daily one and has no cap of its own, so when you see it, go in; there is no reason to save a count — on Taiwan each character gets one entry per map per spawn (three maps = three runs a spawn), and each character on an account counts separately (the 巴哈 first-clear thread).

The second is “spawns over an existing hole”. It displaces the red or blue hole at that position, so your hole countdown (the timetable article) will show one hole of a different type for those 15 minutes. The same hole cannot be re-entered.

Timing: a 1-hour warning on Taiwan; Korea’s timetable is only a reference

The patch notes add a rule no Korean guide site had: 1 hour before a hole appears, the spawn information shows on that hunting ground’s town map. So “go the moment it opens” becomes “go and wait when the warning shows” — an hour is enough to get there from anywhere. As for the interval, Korean trackers observed it to the minute: 36 hours 15 minutes, open 15 minutes each. But the origin is not a constant — it rerolls after every server restart. Taiwan’s 06:00–11:30 maintenance was a restart, so nobody could derive its first spawn minute from Korean data, and the same will be true on any new server. What 36h15m means: fewer than one and a half per two days, about 4.6 a week. It is not daily content; it is “go the moment it opens” content.

9/14 addendum: the anchor exists, and the countdown is at /timers#abyss. The first-clear party’s 巴哈 thread and its replies logged Taiwan’s first four spawns: 9/9 15:00 (day one), 9/10 14:10 (all three maps at once), 9/12 02:25, 9/13 14:40, and the thread title already calls the next one for 9/15 02:55. The last three are exactly 36h 15m apart and every minute lands on Korea’s :10/:25/:40/:55 lattice — the Korean-measured figure holds on Taiwan. The thread’s own phrasing, “refreshes 36 hours after the previous one ends”, is not a different number: 15 minutes open plus a 36-hour cooldown is 36h15m start to start; Korea’s is the measurement, Taiwan’s is the mechanism. Only the first spawn disagrees: 9/9 15:00 → 9/10 14:10 is 23h 10m and :00 is off the lattice, so we read it as a launch-day one-off and do not anchor on it. Every Wednesday 06:00 maintenance re-rolls the phase; after one, the prediction is a guess until someone sees the next hole.

Drops, and how the title works

Korea’s record: rune fragments, emblem runes, mystic dice key boxes. The emblem-rune line matters — emblem runes had no steady source on Taiwan, and the Abyss hole is one of the few drop tables listing them.

The title The One Who Lit the Deep Underground (照亮幽深地底之人) — the patch notes state it has a held effect in addition to its equipped one; Korea’s value is HP +135 — has its Taiwan condition printed in the notes, and it differs from both of Korea’s routes:

  • On each spawn, the first clear per hunting ground completes the achievement and grants the title; the first-clearing character or party name is shown in world chat. “Per hunting ground” is the key phrase: the three maps each count their own first, so one hole cycle has three slots, not one. Anyone who already holds it and comes first again only gets the chat line; achievement rewards are not repeated.
  • Korea’s “20 cumulative purifications” achievement of 2025-08-21 is not in Taiwan’s patch notes — but it is in the game: the first-clear party’s achievement screenshot shows the cumulative-20 progress bar right next to the first-clear one, counted across every character on the server (the 巴哈 first-clear thread). Before 9/14 this article said Taiwan lacked that route; that was wrong.

So on Taiwan the title has two routes: race to first (about 4.6 holes a week × 3 maps = a dozen-odd slots) or wait for the server’s cumulative 20 — the latter arrives eventually, the former is what is worth contesting now. The first-clear party confirms the held effect is Korea’s max HP +135, reports drops as “slightly better than a red hole, and possibly near-empty on a bad roll”, and names the boss: 土巫里, the Mas Abyss stage-2 boss, 300 HP bars, cleared by a four-player party averaging about 25K CP. A four-player party that clears first is four names under one party name — a fixed party beats soloing.

One thing people mix up

“The Abyss hole needs Abyss difficulty” — no. It is a 4-player mini-dungeon at a fixed level 65; the gate is the qualification “one Abyss Entry clear”, not the Abyss combat-power table. Entry’s suggested combat power is 14,337 — that is the number you need.

What to do now

  • If you have not cleared Abyss Entry, do it once today (one of the week’s three Abyss runs is worth spending here).
  • Gather or idle on those three maps; a warning on the town map is a 1-hour countdown.
  • For the title, race for “first party on that map”: a fixed four, into the map as soon as the warning shows.
  • The anchor exists (last sighting 9/13 14:40); after a Wednesday maintenance, note the time of the first hole you see and send it — that is the new anchor.

What would overturn this: “unlimited”, “three maps”, “level 65”, “1-hour warning” and “first clear per hunting ground” are from patch notes 3541097; the 15-minute window, 4 players and HP +135 are Korean data, and in-game wins; 36h15m is a Korean community observation that Taiwan’s 9/10 → 9/12 → 9/13 spacing has now passed; if two adjacent spawns are later logged at a different interval (with no restart between), or another off-lattice time like 9/9 15:00 appears, the timetable section is void.
