9/9 class changes: Greatsword capped at 100, Dancer +10%
✍️ Alice・愛麗沙
Seven classes moved; three need a new build. Greatsword: the accessory rune Severance (斷絕) becomes two charges, longer cooldown, more damage, no more Wound, and Retribution (報復) caps at 100 stacks and clears when combat ends — the era of unlimited stacking is over. Dancer: Closed Stance (閉式舞姿)‘s damage increase becomes final damage +10%, multiplied at the last step, worth more than the additive bucket it left. Archer: the Agile (矯捷的) and Sweep (席捲) runes on Power Shot are rewritten as a pair. The rest are fixes: Priest’s Wings +15%, Crossbow’s Slide no longer leaves range, Rogue’s Ambush gains the [Disrupt] tag, Mage’s Meteor stops scattering monsters. One line for every class: Morrighan’s Blessing cannot block damage above 200% of max HP. This batch matches Korea’s mid-August state (player compilation); the next batch (Bard, Rogue) has not arrived. An English server will receive the same corrections folded into its launch build.
The three that change builds
Three. The rest stay.
Greatsword: Severance goes to two charges, Retribution gets a ceiling
Four lines in the notes, two of them mechanics:
- [Accessory rune: Severance] no longer applies the damage-over-time “Wound”; instead max 2 uses, with cooldown and damage increased.
- Retribution caps at 100 stacks, and “not clearing at end of combat” is fixed — stacks used to carry across fights; now every fight starts at zero.
Together these rewrite Greatsword’s season-0 play. The Greatsword build said “Severance applies Wound, Retribution climbs without limit” — the first half is gone, the second has a cap. Severance goes from “one shot with a DoT” to “two shots, each harder”: better for single-burst situations (field-boss last hits, wards), worse in long fights that lose the Wound ticks. The 100 cap is what Korea did in July, because the theoretical ceiling was infinite; in daily dungeons most players never reached 100 anyway — the real cut is long stationary raid fights. Greatsword output for the 9/21 White Succubus has to be re-estimated.
The third rune line — Counter grants combat rhythm 1 on hit regardless of stance while active — is a fix and changes no build.
Dancer: Closed Stance becomes final damage
“The damage increase granted by Closed Stance becomes a final damage increase, with a new final damage +10% added.”
“Damage increase” and “final damage increase” are two buckets in this game: the first sums with other bonuses before multiplying; the second multiplies at the very end. Moving to final damage means it is no longer diluted — the more damage-increase sources you carry, the more this change is worth relatively. Add the new +10% and the Dancer build’s output estimate moves up by more than a tenth across the board. Dancer is the only class today with a pure buff and no cost.
Archer: Power Shot’s two runes swap effects
- [Agile]: becomes “jump immediately and fire a power arrow that stuns enemies around the target”, max stacks increased.
- [Sweep]: becomes “fill wind to maximum and briefly increase damage dealt”.
- While Power Shot is in use, Galloping Wind’s wind consumption and reduction stop.
The third line is mechanical: wind used to drain during Power Shot; now it does not. The first two split the runes’ roles — Agile is control plus movement, Sweep is a pre-burst refill plus damage. The Archer build’s choice between them has to be rewritten, and the wind ledger recomputed, because Power Shot’s window is now zero-cost.
Fixes: no build change, but a play change
| Class | Change | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Thrust + [Assault]: when hit while charging or the target is unguarded, fires at max charge with more damage | Assault goes from “must fully charge” to “getting hit counts as full charge”; no more fear of interrupted charges |
| Crossbow | Slide no longer retreats beyond basic attack range ([Disrupt] likewise) | no walking back into range after a slide; shorter DPS gap |
| Mage | Fireball + [Meteor]: armour-broken monsters lift in place instead of scattering | follow-up area skills stop whiffing; Meteor’s real AoE value rises |
| Priest | Holy Wings + [Wings] skill damage +15% | a flat +15% for anyone running Wings; the Priest build’s rune order stands |
| Rogue | Ambush gains the [Disrupt] tag | gem and rune effects keyed to Disrupt now count Ambush; the tag article’s Rogue row gains a cell |
| Dancer | Encore’s move-speed text moves to Skilled Steps | pure text fix: the move speed always required Skilled Steps |
One line for every class: the Blessing cannot block 200%
“Immobilising effects can no longer block damage exceeding 200% of maximum HP. Applies to: Morrighan’s Blessing.”
The notes give the reason: in the main dungeons a tactic emerged of using it to ignore boss wipe mechanics. So any “pop the Blessing and tank the wipe” guide is void from today — including whatever Succubus tactics circulate after 9/21. Hits below twice your max HP are still blocked.
Which Korean date this batch corresponds to
The notes do not say. But a Bahamut poster did something worth citing: listed Korea’s class adjustments week by week from 7/9 to 8/27 and matched them against today’s notes — the match ends at Korea’s 8/13 week; the 8/20 and 8/27 Bard and Rogue adjustments are not in today’s notes (Bahamut 討論串 2679, player compilation, unofficial). One corroboration is the Greatsword 100-stack cap: Korea did it on 7/9, Taiwan got it on 9/9, and in between Taiwan’s Greatswords really could stack without limit.
The use of the match is not history; it is knowing which week’s Korean guides to read: Korean class articles from before 8/13 apply to Taiwan from today; those after 8/20 describe what has not arrived. Korea’s Abyss-ranking reshuffle after the Wilderness came from three later systems, and today’s notes confirm it — this batch is all fixes and small buffs, and no class was cut hard enough to switch.
Lightning Mage: not one number
The notes’ entire Lightning Mage section reads “can be chosen on advancement, emblem shop, weapons by magic craft, gear at the blacksmith, items at Molly’s” — not one skill line. Its skill numbers remain Korean data only, and the mana-cycle ledger on this site is Korea’s season 0.
One thing people mix up
“A T0 rune reshuffle” — not today. The runes touched are Greatsword’s Severance and Counter, Archer’s Agile and Sweep, Warrior’s Assault, Mage’s Meteor, Priest’s Wings, Crossbow’s Disrupt — eight, all accessory runes, and none went from usable to unusable. Armour runes and emblem runes were not touched.
What to do now
- Greatsword: keep Severance but treat it as a two-shot burst; Retribution no longer carries stacks, so re-plan the opening.
- Dancer: Closed Stance always on; the final damage +10% is free.
- Archer: Agile for control, Sweep as burst prep; recompute the wind ledger.
- Anyone carrying Morrighan’s Blessing: dodge wipe mechanics by the rules.
- Reading Korean class guides: check the date first; before 8/13 applies today.
What would overturn this: the wording of each change is from patch notes 3541097, and the effect values (how much Severance’s cooldown and damage rose, how much per Retribution stack) are not printed — in-game skill text wins; “equivalent to Korea’s 8/13” is a player’s line-by-line inference, with no official version mapping published.
